Supporting Children in the 21st Century: Art as a Natural Antidote

A world that moves fast needs children who can think creatively. Screens, schedules, and constant noise - it’s a lot for today’s child. In a world where information moves faster than imagination, creativity isn’t just a nice extra. It’s how children learn to think critically, express themselves, and adapt to new challenges with confidence. Art gives them that space. It slows things down, opens up curiosity, and lets children explore ideas in ways words alone can’t. In this talk, artist and Montessori art educator Spramani Elaun will show how visual arts can become a natural antidote to the pressures children face today, nurturing calm, confidence, and independent thinking through creativity.

  1. Val Schofield says:

I love this one, I’m also an art teacher. I totally agree with what you have said. The various ideas that you’ve shown when I first started as montessorian I came in as an art teacher more than anything else and I love doing a timeline of art showing them the major key points of of The strokes of the background of the artist to help shape the world. I also did have them make paint from plants. I also had them lie on the floor and paint on a piece of paper similar to what Michelangelo would have done with the Sistine Chapel. You are an inspiration. Thank you so much!

  2. Heather McCarthy says:

Looking forward to reading your next book.
