Developing resilient children through practical life and independence

This talk explores how Montessori principles foster resilience in children by nurturing independence, self-confidence, and problem-solving skills. Attendees will discover how practical life activities, such as cooking, cleaning, and caring for the environment will guide children develop focus, patience, and perseverance. We will discuss strategies to encourage autonomy, support decision-making, and embrace challenges as learning opportunities. Practical examples and classroom stories will illustrate how everyday tasks build emotional strength and adaptability. Participants will leave with actionable takeaways to implement at home or school, helping children grow into capable, confident, and resilient individuals.

Discussion

Your questions will be answered after the conference.

  1. Val Schofield says:

I like how you talked about the fact that the children do have to have a challenge to achieve the next level. I like how you turn tied into the cosmic plan as in everything rolls together. I don’t think I’m saying this quite right, but as with the cosmic plan when we did cosmic education in elementary, it is a eye-opener to show how many things are a web, I’ll eventually working together just like human body helping everybody to grow and flourish. Yes, it is very important that there are failures for people to overcome that and challenge themselves to become better. Thank you for your inspiration

  2. Heather McCarthy says:

Thank you, Jennifer was wonderful to learn more about practical life and developing independence. Great reminder that it is not just cleaning and gardening! I like the way you spoke and used different pictures, slides and words to support this topic. The brain science to support the executive function, concentration and normalization,
Great that you spoke to the indoor and outdoor learning skills that they both work together to build resilience, concentration and perseverance.
Learnt more about cosmic connection and education. Lots to reflect on.
