Montessori and Current Science: Helping Montessorian’s Understand and Apply Research

Current research (in the fields of education, as well as cognitive and developmental science) often supports the child-centered, autonomy-supportive practices implemented in Montessori classrooms. On the other hand, there are many important questions left for future researchers to explore. Come to this session to hear the findings from a series of white papers written by Dr. Borgman, in partnership with the Montessori Public Policy Initiative, that highlight what modern science has to say about crucial questions for Montessorians around the topics of Assessment, Adult/Child Ratios & Class Sizes, Mixed-Age Classrooms, and Student Autonomy & Choice.
