Building Community Through Classroom Meetings in the 3-6 Classroom
Creating a successful community in the Montessori classroom is greatly enhanced by the use of regular classroom meetings. These meetings give voice to the children and provide opportunities for them to make decisions and solve problems as a group. What better way to build leadership skills! This workshop will offer a template on how to start meetings with young children in the primary classroom (ages 3-6). We will talk through the stages so that both teachers and students feel successful.

Jody Malterre MAEd has over 30 years’ experience in education as a teacher, administrator, and consultant. She was the owner/administrator of three Montessori schools in Idaho for 18 years. This experience led her to become a Montessori Teacher Trainer at various training centers since 2014.
Jody supports parents, teachers, and businesses as a Positive Discipline Trainer through classes and certification workshops. She also supports parents one on one as a parenting coach and schools as a consultant. Jody currently serves on the board of the Positive Discipline Association.

Short lecture covered so many ideas for a classroom meeting. How and why with discussions are important to work through and solve. Being positive and connecting with children’s feeling and ideas.
